What does a livestock appraiser do?

A livestock appraiser is responsible for determining and advising clients on the market value of livestock that will be insured or sold. Job responsibilities of a livestock appraiser include examining livestock, determining the market value of the livestock, providing supporting documentation for the market value given, writing reports outlining the evaluation of the livestock, working with clients to determine the reason for the appraisal, and maintaining records of appraisals completed. Appraisers are generally hired by the buyer and serve his interests, or may be hired by the lending institution.
